🚀 WebRTC Peer-to-Peer Direct Transfer · Zero Server Storage

LAN Drop & P2P WebRTC Direct File Transfer Online

Transfer files, photos, videos, and clipboard text instantly across devices over your local WiFi/LAN network or the web. Powered by browser-native WebRTC DataChannels, BoxyKit LAN Drop establishes encrypted direct peer-to-peer (P2P) connections between phones, laptops, and tablets. No app installation, no sign-up, no file size caps, and 100% zero cloud server storage.

Lightning Fast Cross-Device Sharing

🔒

Zero Cloud Storage & End-to-End Encrypted

Files stream directly between peer browsers with DTLS encryption. Nothing is ever stored or cached on intermediary servers.

⚡

Instant 6-Digit Code & QR Pairing

Connect devices in seconds by entering a temporary 6-digit room code or scanning the QR code with your mobile camera.

📦

Zero File Size Limitations

Transfer gigabyte video files, disk images, or raw camera albums directly at full local Wi-Fi speeds without cloud upload caps.

📱

Universal Cross-Platform Compatibility

Seamless interoperability between iPhone, Android, Mac, Windows, and Linux via modern web browsers without native apps.

How to Transfer Files with LAN Drop

1

Open on Both Devices

Open BoxyKit LAN Drop on sender and receiver devices connected to the same Wi-Fi network or internet.

2

Pair with Code or QR

Scan the on-screen QR code with your phone or enter the 6-digit room code to establish an encrypted DataChannel.

3

Select Files or Text

Drag and drop files, select photos, or paste clipboard messages to initiate instantaneous peer streaming.

4

Direct Local Download

The receiver confirms the transfer request and streams the file directly into local disk storage in real time.

🌐

WebRTC DataChannel & Local Area Network Direct Sockets

BoxyKit utilizes standard WebRTC (Web Real-Time Communication) and WebSocket signaling. Once SDP offer/answer handshakes and ICE candidates are exchanged, data packets travel over direct DTLS/SCTP encrypted peer-to-peer channels. If both devices are on the same Wi-Fi router, traffic stays strictly inside your local area network (LAN) at gigabit speeds without consuming internet bandwidth or exposing files to cloud servers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is my file data uploaded or saved to any BoxyKit server?
Never. BoxyKit LAN Drop uses WebRTC peer-to-peer technology. The signaling server only facilitates initial connection discovery (handshake). All file payload bytes stream directly between the two peer devices with DTLS end-to-end encryption.
Q: Do sender and receiver devices need to be on the same Wi-Fi?
No. While same-network transfers achieve lightning-fast LAN speeds, WebRTC ICE and STUN traversal allow devices across different networks or cellular data to connect directly whenever peer routing is available.
Q: Is there any file size limit or daily quota?
There is no file size limit and no daily quota. Because files stream directly between peer browsers via chunked ArrayBuffers, you can transfer multi-gigabyte videos and archives without server disk limitations.
Q: Do I need to install any mobile app or software?
No installation is required. BoxyKit runs natively in modern web browsers including Safari (iOS/macOS), Chrome (Android/Windows/Mac), Edge, and Firefox.
Q: Why is BoxyKit LAN Drop faster than AirDrop or cloud drives?
Cloud drives require double-bandwidth: uploading to the cloud, then downloading to the second device. LAN Drop streams bytes simultaneously in real time. Unlike AirDrop which only works on Apple hardware, BoxyKit works across iOS, Android, Windows, Mac, and Linux.
Q: What happens if I close the browser tab during a transfer?
Because transfers stream directly through active browser WebRTC DataChannels, closing either tab terminates the peer connection. Keep the tabs open until the transfer progress reaches 100%.
